WHO I AM
Hello, my name is Fred Fox, and my traditional name is Eagle Stands Above. I have dedicated my life to service—to my country, my community, and the MHA Nation.
I am a member of the Awaxaii – Dripping Dirt Clan and a child of the Flint Knife Clan. I am also a member of the Old Scouts Society, Dead Grass Society, and Young Hawk/Bear Post 253, where I carry the Post’s Legion Whistle.
In 1993, I enlisted in the United States Navy, serving as a Quartermaster Third Class aboard the USS Clifton Spragueand the USS Nimitz. During my military service, I participated in Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti, Operation Southern Watch, Operation Vigilant Sentinel, and the United States response to the Taiwan Strait Crisis. I completed my service in 1997 and received an honorable discharge.
Following my military service, I began a career in Tribal government that has now spanned more than two decades. My experience includes serving as GIS Specialist, Water Resources Director, Minerals Director, Acting Natural Resources Director, and Energy Director. Since 2012, I have served on the MHA Tribal Business Council as East Segment Representative, Vice Chairman, and Executive Secretary.
Throughout my career, I have remained committed to responsible leadership, strengthening Tribal sovereignty, and creating opportunities for future generations. I believe leadership begins with listening, and that every community deserves a voice in the future of the MHA Nation.
Every Community. Every Voice. One Nation.
